Our club prays and acts to foster and affirm vocations to the ministerial priesthood 

and vowed religious life in DuPage County and the Joliet Diocese.  

Through this ministry we enrich and develop our members' common Catholic faith.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

When you don’t attend the monthly Serra meeting you miss praying for vocations

      One of the three objectives of Serra International is to foster and promote vocations to the ministerial priesthood in the Catholic Church as a particular vocation to service, and to support priests in their sacred ministry.  Your Serra Club offers a unique environment at the Loretto Convent to pray for vocations through the recitation of the rosary and attending mass offered for vocations.  All that it takes is for each of us to set aside only 3 out of over 600 hours of our time each month to attend the monthly Serra evening.

      Please prioritize your time for vocations by marking your calendar now.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS  – May 7, 2006

The World Day of Prayer for Vocations is Sunday, May 7. Serran’s & Parish Vocation Contacts should discuss with their pastors regarding a project for World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Consider scheduling a special time of prayer for vocations.

HELPING SEMINARIANS IN NEED

Several of our seminarians from other countries need special support to provide for clothing, shoes, and other necessities for living in the United States.  If you would like to contribute to the support of our seminarians from Latin America you can do so by contributing to the special Serran fund for needy seminarians, by sending a check directly to the Fiat House help the men there, or by calling the Vocation Office and asking to help with a specific need one of the seminarians might have.  Small parish groups may want to have a drive for clothing or gas cards, phone cards, and other gift cards for seminarians to use.  For more information, please contact either Father Burke Masters at frburke23@aol.com or Ron Beaumont at rrboards@aol.com.

MONTHLY MASS:  A special Mass for vocations is usually held the third Monday of each month, at 6:00 PM.  All are invited to join the Serra Club for this Mass.  Contact Ron Beaumont at rrboards@aol.com or phone (630) 858-4646 for dates, time and directions.
